bye bye puppy dog!

Our dog, Admiral, died in March. We miss him. We love him. Below is a conversation I had with Beck a few days after Admiral died...

This morning I pulled up a photo of Admiral on the computer screen.

Beck: "Can puppy dog come in? Can puppy dog come in?"
Me: "No sweetie, puppy dog died. He had to go away."

--- long silent pause ---

Beck: "Puppy dog laughs?"

Me: "Yes, puppy dog laughs."

Beck waved to the photo of Admiral on the screen. "Bye bye, puppy dog!"

Then he walked over to the bookshelf, pulled out his photo book and turned to a picture of him and Admiral together. "Bye bye, puppy dog!"

Beck is a magical son who eats light

A couple of evenings ago Beck started a ritual of eating light. He scoops his hand up to the lamp by our sofa, grabs some light and "om nom noms" the light into his mouth with plenty of lip smacking goodness. He repeats it over and over again until the light is all gone and he has to go around the room, searching and jumping for more yummy light.

(This actually happened in the winter of 2010. I'm behind on posting to Beck's blog. Sometimes Beck will still eat light but it's not longer a nightly ritual.)

Super sweet video of Beck telling everyone he loves them before we travel to Conroe & The Woodlands for Easter. He's also intrigued by the mailman.
